DJ Humility

Truth be told, everyone has hot DJs to thank for making Friday night turnup-worthy. After the week’s stress, it’s assuring to know that great mixes of our favourite hits are only a radio dial away, or at the coolest club nearby. Hats off to these guys, really!
It wasn’t easy compiling a list of our seven favourite, but we believe these guys have proven themselves time and time again to be the best in the industry.

1. DJ XclRotimi
Rotimi Alakija (a.k.a., DJ Xclusive) has been in the entertainment game since 2003, making a name for himself with his sick mixes. The graduate of Financial Computing has performed for the likes of Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Mario Winans and Fat Joe in his career, and is highly respected across the continent. Today, he splits his time between work with a popular radio station in town and shutting down shows with Wizkid.

2. DJ Consequence
Born Akeredolu Precious Pelumi, major nightclubs across Lagos have him to thank for their raving crowds night in, night out. He’s been refining his disk jockeying skills since secondary school, and it shows. With 50,000 mix tape downloads and a huge following under his belt, the sky is truly the limit for this world-class talent.

3. DJ Jimmy Jatt
You can’t have a conversation about DJs in Nigeria without mentioning this gentleman right here. Jimmy Adewale actually started off as a rapper but had a change in path when things didn’t quite work out as planned. The rest, as they say, is  entertainment history with performances for 2Baba, P Square and even international acts like Wyclef to brag about.

4. DJ Humility
He’s been in the business of spinning for 15 years, and isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The one and only Benedict Afagwu is a dominant member of the movement that’s making DJing an art. A lover of hip-hop since the 90s, he’s currently a resident DJ at a popular radio station in Lagos.

5. DJ Sose
If you ever spot a white guy with a tattoo on his face DJing at a club, you’re probably enjoying the sounds of the mastermind, DJ Sose. Though he looks foreign, he’s actually the son of a Nigerian. He’s travelled across the world and currently DJs for the hit show, Highlites with IK.

6. DJ Spinall
Not many DJs are bold enough to mix a wide range of music, placing this DJ in a unique league of his own. He’s worked for almost everyone too like Channel O Africa and Wande Coal, to name a few. And how can we forget to add his international status, performing across 6 states in the US on his recent tour – CAPUStour. Looking forward to what the future holds for this rising star.

7. DJ EniMoney
When Olamide is your big brother, how can you not be bahd too? DJ Enimoney, whose real name is Eniola by the way, is blazing the trail in his own space and making a name for himself in the industry. He is the official DJ of the YBNL nation with a mixtape under his belt called Gapa. When asked if he would ever leave YBNL, here is what he had to say,“You can’t do anything to sign me away from YBNL, it is family to me. No amount of money can make me leave YBNL as long as it’s still running.” Interesting, right?
